Top 4 Tips To Make 2008 Your Best Year Ever
January 15th, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized — Small Home Business AuthorThe past year taught me a lot about business and marketing again. Although the main principles of marketing never change, there’s always a lot to learn.
Here are my top 4 tips I learned in 2007, that will help you build and grow your own successful (online) business:
1. Customer Relationships
The key to running a great business is the relationships you got. Not only with your customers, but also with JV partners, affiliates, friends, vendors etcetera. By building a relationship with them instead of just selling stuff to them you’re setting yourself up for success. You become a trusted advisor and friend instead of ‘yet another marketer’.
Show your appreciation regularly and create a plan for your communication towards customers and prospects. Think about the ultimate goal you want to get out of each contact with them. What do you want them to say about you? What do you want your customers to think about when they hear your name?
Another trend that’s rising quickly is customer experience marketing. This actually is selling in the form of educating, amusing and entertaining your prospects. By not focusing on the sale but instead entertaining and sharing useful information – you convert the prospect. More about this later.
2. Standing Out Of The Crowd
Just like 99% of all other businesses and persons out there, you can use the ‘Me Too’ approach to marketing. By not being unique and instead just copying someone else, you won’t attract the big number of customers you want. This is because people will always be attracted to those who stand out of the crowd, in one way or another.
Think hard and long about your strategy and USP (Unique Selling Proposition). You’ll need a clear and compelling strategy and benefits to raise above your competitors.
3. Test & Track
Without testing you won’t ever find out what works and what doesn’t. The difference between successful and unsuccessful marketers is that those who are successful are on top of the game. They don’t guess, but know what works and what doesn’t.
You should at least track and test the following things: your best-selling product, your best source of traffic, your best marketing methods and your highest-earning task. By knowing those vital elements of your business, you know what to focus on and where the money is.
4. Outsource
Without outsourcing you’ll have a never-ending To Do list, experience lots of stress and sooner or later hit an income ceiling. If a business is dependent on you, it can’t grow further at a given point. By outsourcing you not only free up time, but also lift the income ceiling and enjoy more success.
You should outsource the tasks you aren’t good at and those that you regularly multitask. If a task doesn’t require your full attention, it can easily be outsourced. Here’s just a small list of things to outsource: article writing, article marketing, customer support, bookkeeping, product creation and blogging.
