The 3 Pillars of Leadership
March 7th, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized — Small Home Business AuthorOnce again, imagine for me if you will, a platform held up by 3 supporting pillars as you build your way to having a successful home based business. The platform is called leadership and upon that platform you can enjoy personal freedom with a long term residual income. Only leaders will earn a freedom income in the future of network marketing in the new era. If any one of those pillars is missing the platform will topple over on your home based business. The 3 pillars are vision, sharing and serving.
Leaders are people that know exactly where they are going and why; they are led by a vision for the future and believe passionately in it! Leaders are excellent communicators and able to inspire people to see the vision of having a solid residual income in a successful home based business. And finally, true leaders understand that the greatest leaders are at the same time the greatest of servants. Let me explain a little if I may. Hitler certainly had a vision for his future and was a remarkable orator and communicator thus he displayed those two leadership skills. However, he served only himself and his twisted vision of the future. There are “Givers” and “Takers” in this world. Hitler was an extreme example of a “Taker”. Some of the leaders we see in the corporate world, while not maniacal like Hitler, still have an edge about them in the dog eat dog world in which they survive and sometimes thrive.
It is really not as gray an area as it may appear. A person’s character as defined by their honesty, integrity and kindness will dictate what they are willing to do to accomplish their personal goals in having a residual income and a successful home based business. In 2002 I saw things happening in the company I was working in that made it, in my opinion, almost impossible for a newcomer to get involved and succeed in building a residual income. My conscience would not allow me to sponsor new people from that time on for that home based business opportunity. Although I enjoyed the products, the compensation plan kept changing every couple of years and made it very difficult to build a sustainable residual income. The benefit was mostly for the owner. How could I look a newcomer in the eyes and tell them that they had the same opportunity for success as others did previously if it was not true?
The same question can be posed about the people that “sell” Newcomers a bill of goods about how easy it is to make a residual income of $10,000 per month and how quickly they can become free only to line their own pockets. In the future New Era of NWM serving others will quickly be evident by the percentage of Newcomers that succeed in any given program over time for whatever home based business they join. Being a responsible sponsor will mean we are serving effectively those we introduce and mentor into our home based business. It will not be the, throw enough against the wall and some will stick kind of business that it evolved into in many cases from the 80s onwards. This was never the vision of the founding fathers of network marketing. To be effective real leaders must invest time in people serving those they personally sponsor and coach them to leadership and success in building a sustainable residual income with integrity and honesty.
By definition, leaders will also be serving many others in their team as a way of assisting the growing leaders, paying it forward. Vision, sharing and serving work together synergistically and must in order to truly build a peaceful, residual income in a home based business.
They are the 3 Pillars of Leadership!
