Networkers, Stop Being Sold, Educate Yourself And Quit Blaming The Business

February 29th, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized — Small Home Business Author

Network marketing is not going away. Especially with the internet making it painfully easy to reach the masses. So new tactics need to be instilled. The blame game “I was scammed” is played out. If you were scammed it is your own fault for jumping into something and not researching it to see if it is the right decision.

let’s get passed the whole “being sold” thing and start really trying to understand different businesses.

  • Are the Compensation plans good?
  • Is the founder someone worth being involved with?
  • Does this company have a good future?
  • And more importantly, Can I get excited about the product or service?

Yes, we can be selfish now. We have more opportunities with just a click of the mouse today than ever before. This means we can choose what we want to promote and we can choose how much money we make.

The 9 to 5 could end up becoming obselete and what will be in its place are businesses with business partners instead of employees. Wouldn’t that be wonderful? This is a complete sidenote though. The more important point is that people seeking to become self-employed and working from home should really break down a business and see what it has to offer. I am not saying mulling it over for days or weeks, but I am saying to ask whoever is trying to sell you on a business to stop selling and start explaining.

Personally if I have to sell someone on a business then I know that that person is either going to need a lot of hand holding, which I am not interested in doing, or they are going to fizzle out shortly and it would have been a waste of my time except for the money that I made by getting them involved. But, if I were just explaining a business to someone and they started to get excited and I was excited because I love my business, then that is a great dynamic to have. In that case, I would be more likely to have a new business colleague instead of another “sign up” who doesn’t take full advantage of the opportunity.

With all this also comes the idea Seth Godin presents in his book “The Dip” of quitting the things that are simply distractions and focusing on the endeavors that are going somewhere for you. If you haven’t read his book or his blog I suggest looking him up soon.

After figuring out that a business you were presented with is what you want to get involved in, go for it and don’t stall your engine. There is no point. If you have made a strong business decision and believe in it, stop looking for something better and start working on your business. Like Robert Kiyosaki says “Mind your own business”. If a person has made a great business decision then they will have in front of them an amazing compensation plan, a great product or service and the world at their finger tips. So the only thing left to do is to put the blinders on and go to work. The fumble happens only when people continue to think like enployees and don’t start thinking like business owners and professional. You know you are in your right frame of mind when:

  • You ask YOUSELF what you can do to market your product better and then learn
  • You make the decision to focus 110% on YOUR business
  • You don’t blame anyone else when some advertising or marketing plan didn’t work out so you clear the slate and start working on a new plan that is better.
  • You take full responsibility for your actions, results, and shortcomings.
  • You learn how to be successful.
  • You realize that the blame game is gross and not something you want to be part of.

There are obviously many many more things that could be on that list, but those are the ones that came to mind right off the bat. The bottom line of this article is to spark the idea to really take control of your current situation and make sure the most important variable “You” is running on all cylinders. It is no secret that SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is one of the best ways to promote a website, so why not use SO (Self Optimization) to help you?
