Get Rich Quick
January 29th, 2008 Filed under: Uncategorized — Small Home Business AuthorDid I get your attention? Getting rich quick is a trap that many people with entrepreneurial spirits fall into. I know because I have an entrepreneurial spirit. I thought owning a construction business would make me rich…not. Then I thought selling on that famous auction site would make me a fortune, it didn’t. Yes, it is better to try and fail then to never had tried at all.
You’ve probably heard the expression, “he who fails to plan, plans to fail.” That expression is very true. As entrepreneurs, we tend to be zealous and jump in feet first without thinking everything through. Let me put this into government terms…no exit strategy! Besides the “fail to plan, plan to fail” expression, there is one more expression that I think is very important, “plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.” Because we live in the age of technology, there are excellent resources (literally) at our fingertips. The internet is an excellent resource for making business plans, setting goals etc. All you have to do is search.
Besides the internet, there are organizations like SCORE, “Counselors to America’s Small Business and SBDC, Small Business Development Centers, who’s very job is to assist small business owners or potential business owners. If you are thinking about starting a business, get help from these counselors! If you are currently in business, these organizations can help you with whatever you need as well. Also, if you are married, I would also suggest getting ideas and feedback from your spouse. It’s certainly better if you are both on board with your business venture or business direction, than having what I call opportunities for personal growth (arguments.)
I don’t believe there is any way to get rich quick. There are a lot of scams out there. I want you to be cautious, if it sounds to good to be true, chances are it is. The ways to get rich are: work hard, work smart, live within your means, save your money and invest for your future. There are resources and counselors to help you out with your finances too. Do some searches and get some help!
