Finally, You Can Stop Work
September 10th, 2007 Filed under: Uncategorized — Small Home Business AuthorWhy do we work ourselves to death and hate doing it!
I hate to say it but if you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen In other words if you hate your job that much, ask yourself why are you still doing it? I look around at the lifestyle we all lead and think why are we working ourselves to death. Ok, so we can’t all just bum around drifting from one dead end job with no responsibility to another but surely we can strike some happy medium, lets face it we all live longer now and I for one cant see myself snowboarding when Im 70, nice but unlikely, but hey I enjoy doing it now! You cant always live for the day, or can you?
Ask yourself who you are?
1. The layabout, that has no ambition and lives off the state feeling sorry for him self and begrudging others that appear to have more than him. But is not prepared to make himself answerable for his own actions and instead just stays where he is complaining that he doesnt have enough to live on or he cant get a job but cant really be arsed because its easier to complain.
2. The High Flyer who has worked hard for years, put him self under pressure with bigger houses and faster cars, has all the gear but is now that strung out about actually enjoying what hes got he dare not try anything else for fear of loosing it all.
3. The Dreamer whos landed the perfect job, great hours, great boss, up for promotion but continually dreams about that little place in the country with his own vegetable plot, chickens and whatever and instead of doing anything about it continues in this great job until it becomes a job he hates and hes become so institutionalized that he thinks it the norm to plod through life hating your job and just surviving.
Not sure who I feel sorrier for!
I for one am off. Ive had the job not great but steady, saved like buggery, not really been lavish on holidays, I dont drink, dont smoke dont eat out that often admittedly bought a house as prices were on the up, so that was a bit lucky I guess. Re-mortgaged to buy another property struggled and struggled with a huge mortgage that a pushed every spare bit of cash into and been a little bit tight when it comes to money. Until now! I will now sell one of the properties off to become mortgage free bank the remainder and live off the interest along with some odd jobs. Then
I am foot loose and fancy free and also the envy of most of my friends that have partied and drank and had nice holidays and maybe had a bit more fun than me in the past few years but are also getting no where fast, in fact are starting to loose their will to live in their jobs that they hate because they are becoming trapped in this commercial world we all live in.
Come on guys, follow your dream!
Im taking an enforced year off, not to find myself or some other crap like that, but to put myself in a situation where I will be able to see opportunity when it comes knocking and act upon it. Stop conforming to 9-5 there are alternatives out there, follow your heart a little bit, do something you are passionate about, talk to strangers, volunteer, anything! But be open to suggestions and dont miss that opportunity when you see it only to see someone else doing your idea in 2 years time.
