It can be tough making ends meet with all of the financial demands currently facing the average consumer today. The cost of everything is going up. Gas prices won’t stop climbing, food climbs just as fast, and it seems that the only thing getting cheaper is the cost of labor. A lot of people can’t even find jobs. As of July last year, nearly 8 million people had lost their jobs since the downturn that really peaked in 2008, as reported by MSN. Many families who previously subsisted on two incomes have had to make due with one. Where one spouse works the other stays at home and tends to the families’ domestic needs. But in this enjoinment it can be too much of a strain trying to get by on just one salary and this has prompted many stay at home spouses to begin stay at home businesses or jobs.

Blog and Review:

One hugely popular avenue that seems to be increasing across the board among average households is the creation of blogs. Getting a blog up and running is pretty simple and the steps can be done by anybody. All you really need is a computer and the Internet, and you can talk about whatever you want. Through a blog, the administrator, that would be you, can review products of all kinds. There’s a lot of money out there to be had form marketing companies looking for people to review their products online. Plus, there’s the added bonus of getting a commission through any sales that result from viewing your blog.

Freelance Work:

If you’re familiar at all with the concept of grammar and syntax, and sometimes you don’t even need that much, do a little freelance writing in your spare time. With a basic understanding of writing structure, you can write for web sites, blogs, and other businesses that are constantly looking for people to write reviews and create content for their myriad purposes. All you need is a computer and a writing program and you can get started. Who knows, if they like your work it may turn into a full time job and really add to your family’s income level.

Taking Up a Trade:

The field of medical billing and coding is a fast growing one, and though you usually can’t do this at home, through a lot of these trade schools, you can get a degree in things like massage therapy that you can do at home. You would have a list of clients that would come to you. There’s really good money in it with excellent long-term benefits.

No one wants to see their household struggle everyday with spending the smallest amounts. Though there’s not many jobs out there, the trades are doing well and if you’re family is finding it hard to make it through the month with the increased costs of living, you might want to consider taking up some home at work. You don’t have to be unemployed, if you’re a stay-at-home spouse. Check online and see all of the options for people who’ve decided to work from home.
