I liked the above article. Very smart to say I should first make a plan to plan a new business instead of what I was going to do and start things rolling. Think I will do a bit of research now. Thanks for putting this up. Very thought provoking.

But, when you turn a funnel over, it sort of looks like a pyramid. Plus all the stuff runs out on to the engine, and you've got a real mess on your hands.

Thanks for swinging by my site the other day. Good to meet you.

What you say is so true! After I graduated from Yale Law School, I thought I was Superman, and went into my first business with a lot o hubris. I learned pretty quickly that there are A LOT of things that I can't or don't do well, and though a lot was due to macroeconomic circumstances (it was a real estate business), a part was due to my personal failings, which were only exacerbated by the fact that I had no one to share it with. My new business (www.nuroa.com) is different, because I share it with my business partner, who nicely complements my various weak points.

I'm going to forward this to a friend of mine who's running a family owned restaurant. I did a lot of research into owning and operating restaurants as a freelance project, and more people definitely need to be aware of what's involved!
