Five Ways to Maintain Your Momentum

You’ve just started a new business, a new interest or a new investment strategy - you’re excited and determined to reach the goals you’ve set for yourself. You have a 90 day plan and can’t wait to get started! The first couple of weeks everything goes smoothly. You’re following your plan and experiencing some success. But something starts to happen - you’re excitement dims little by little, day by day. You’ve stopped doing some of your action steps to reach you closer to your goal. You sit and watch t.v. instead of working your plan. You go out with your friends. And then you begin to wonder where your excitement has gone. The longer you do these unproductive activities, the harder it is to get back into action. Here are 5 tips to keep and maintain your momentum and stay on the road to success.
1) Remember Your WHY: Why did you start your business? What did you hope to accomplish? How do you want your life to change? Write down your WHY on a 3×5 inch card and put it by your bedside. Read it every morning before getting out of bed, and every night before falling asleep.
2) Read motivational/inspirational material every day. Schedule at least 15 minutes a day to listen to a motivational CD or read a book. This is guaranteed to lift your spirits and keep you going!
3) Track Your Progress: Keep track of your daily goals and benchmarks. At the end of each day, write down what went well, what you’ve learned and things that you could improve on tomorrow. Provide a summary at the end of every week of your daily activities. At the end of 90 days you will know if you’re on the right path or if you need to tweak things.
4) Celebrate Your Successes! Take your family out for dinner, go out with some friends, buy a new outfit, whatever will make YOU feel good! You deserve it!
5) Take Time For YOU. It’s important to take some time each day to rejuvenate. Take a nice long bubble bath, read a book, watch a movie. Just relax. It’s not worth reaching your goal if you’re going to be burned out, and have alienated everyone around you.
Building and maintaining your momentum isn’t easy and takes hard work and commitment. By following these tips, you will be on your way to keeping your momentum and achieving success.
