Is there a right way to start your ecommerce site?
Yes, there is!
Start from scratch with a pencil/pen and paper. Draw a basic outline of your store goals and milestone you intend to accomplish along the way. This will serve as an open ended business plan that you can refer back to as often as possible. As time passes by, revisit your plan to make necessary changes.
This can be a list of things that work and do not work for your style of business. But, as you make these updates, try to be more specific each time. Within 6 months to a year, your business plan will be a proven road map to success. It does take time but remember, a well thought out business plan will reap rewards far beyond your imagination.
Now that you have this road map, stick to it! You know what works so dont try to reinvent the wheel. Now you can redirect your focus to marketing your site which is obviously and integral part of any ecommerce site. This would include but not limited to keyword/key phrase building which specifically targets what you are marketing.
Building reciprocal links to other highly Page Rank (PR) sites will assist you in building your sites popularity and tie into the overall success of your business.
So stick with it and yes, there is a right way to start your ecommerce site.
